People are making a lot of noise against the veil ban in France but why these same people don't make noise against the oppressive regime in Saudi Arabia and many Arab countries. Maldives is such a tiny country, known for exotic islands but no one makes a noise when the new constitution of Maldives defines citizenship on this basis of Islam. I don't know which direction we are heading on. The recent attacks on Sufi Shrines in Pakistan is a blatant attack on Islam and its not even on the agenda of so called proponents of the theory of Islamophoebia. I simply do not understand why we concentrate on trivial issues and lose out the major ones. Someone in Denmark draws something and we are on streets in thousands and may be in millions but why we are not on streets when some one bombs the 1200 years old shrines. Before pointing fingers on France, Switzerland or on Belgium we should first look at our record. Its thousand times more inferior than those European countries.
A very happy Vijayadashmi to all of you, lets start a crusade against the Ravans of this epoch. Lets atleast try for some sanity.

I am not sure why the idea of an "Islamic constitution" creates such a flutter. Even America is "founded" on the "principles of Christianity" which has been noted by almost all it's leaders, nearly always. I understand that modern society is suspicious of theocratic constitutions (especially, Islamic) but aren't all theocratic ideas similarly brutal? The punishment proscribed in any religion for circumvention of "divine" law is harsh; the Islamic law shouldn't be singled out for that.
Secondly, comparing Saudi Arabia with modern democracies is simply untenable. A regime which enforces harsh principles (incidentally, most of them very un-Quranic) on it's own cannot be taken into comparison with "democracies" of today. Why cannot people see the peaceful existence of Christians/Jews in numerous Muslim countries? Aren't there Hindu temples in the UAE or Bahrain (thanks to Indian expats)? Why isn't the flourishing of Jewish golden age (under the Spanish Muslims) ever taken into cognisance? I hope you did read the news wherein an American pastor called Yoga demoniac and another tried to burn the Qur'an. Surely, Americans, aren't they? Epitome of civility and everything else which "those Muslims" are not?
Fingers are being pointed against France, Belgium and so forth because they are indulging in hypocricy. On one hand their constitution says, 'Liberte, Egalite, Fraternete' and on the other hand they are forcing people to confirm to French (and whatever) norms of lifestyle and behaviour. Atleast the Saudis are not being hypocrites...come at your own peril, that's what they say and implement.
Saudis are big hypocrites. Why they fund building of mosques in non-muslim countries, same time they ban building of any non-muslim structure. Read William Dalrymple's From the holy mountain, you will get a feel of non Muslim subjects in Arab world. Why the percentage of non muslims goes on decreasing at a rapid rate in Muslim countries while that of Muslims in non Muslim countries goes on increasing. Even in Israel the growth rate of Muslims is very high. Take example of Bangladesh and Pakistan. What has happened to Hindus out there?
A hypocrite is one who professes something else while practising something else. Europe (and to an extent America) profess that they are "secular, free and democratic" and yet they force their own ideologies on the people who have migrated there. Be it the turban ban or the burqa ban, they have reflected this attitude time and again (with the resounding approval of the general populace). Saudi govt. on the other hand is a regressive regime, we don't even know what is the will of the people there, who themselves are living a life of opression. There activities cannot be considered hypocritical as this is what they preach and practise (exculisivity).
